Battle Scars- A Poem

Words hurt more than sticks at times,

Sometimes they sting,

Sometimes they flood like rain.

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why,

Someone feels the need for you to feel their pain.

They attack with vengeance.

They attack with bitterness.

They attack with hate and untamed ignorance.

Just don’t forget to breathe-

Don’t forget that forgiveness heals,

Guard your heart from enemies

But hope they find an inner peace.

Because we are all warriors of life itself.

Sometimes we have to let go and pray,

Some of us have healed but-

We all show our battle scars in different ways.

  1. Hello Gretchen Another great poem! I like your style! I can really relate to this poem, I was bullied in school. And now I worry for my son living with ASD.

  3. Don’t forget that forgiveness heals – Wise words that can be deemed worth a personal listen … best:)
