Dark clouds loom before me.
I bow my head to keep me warm-
And hold on tight to the light within me,
To see beyond the storm.

seeing beyond the storm and holding on to the light within when it’s dark around…not always easy to see the light in those tunnel times…bowing the head to keep yourself warm is a great image as well… and good to see you at dVerse Gretchen
Nice to see you again too Claudia ๐
Beautifully controlled, Gretchen ๐
Your poetry reads smoothly and calmly…definitely beyond the storm.
Thank-you Rowan! ๐
into each life storms will come
it is def how we walk them
that makes all the difference
cause there is always another side
to them…smiles.
Very true Brian. Storms are a true test of character
As always – beautiful with multiple layers. haven’t seen you for a while Gretchen. Missed you.
Miss you guys too. Had to take a break to get my priorities back on track.
Really lovely, you do have to hold on tight to that light when storm descends… beautifully done!
Thank-you! ๐
very symbolic. is there going to be a storm on tiwtter? could be if there’s a riot or a war. and what about twitter weather reports?
a tweet of a poem
It’s more symbolic of dealing with our pasts (or mine) in a hopeful way ๐
I love this, Gretchen… so inspirational!
Thank-you Laurie ๐
Marvellous! Great use of metaphor. And twitterphore.
Beautifully done, and inspirational. I have close family members who’ve been diagnosed with (and I’ve once in a while suspected that I must have some symptoms of) Asperger’s, so your framing of this poem from your perspective took on an added poignancy for me. Thank you.
Ah this is just beautiful I can actually like both the direct one (woke up in our tent bending down to a storm and had to break camp at 6 am the other day) as well as the symbolic one. Thank you for sharing this gem
…indeed, good enough to note how even the littlest of light still shines in every darkest hour if we only believe… loved this Gretchen… smiles..
I totally feel your sentiment. Wished I had seen the the clouds acoming…alas it’s Reconstruction Time Again. ~peace, Jason
Lovely writing–that little beacon of light is enough to land us safely, as long as we remember to hold on. Nicely done!
Beautiful words with optimistic last line. Nicely done.
Love the simplicity
