Introduction: This was written while listening to Lindsey Stirling’s piece called “Elements”. It has a somewhat abstract meaning to me. It made me think about how being on the Autism Spectrum is always a challenge but that practice leads to victory. Sometimes it feels like a heaviness that threatens to flatten me and then it surprises me by bringing my muse to life. But the fact remains that, for better or worse, it is always there and I am learning to embrace that with a newfound confidence.
My companion
Flows from my
Fountain pen
In brilliant
Hues of azul
My Sul Ponticello
Of unscripted strokes
Slides off my
Lined canvas
To release the
Amused muse
Within me
To paint the
World, electric blue.

smiles….what a companion when they help you spin the words and capture the muse…electric blue…what a brilliant color…
ThankYou π
I love the cadence of this, how it streams and unwinds to a perfect conclusion. Nicely done! π
ThankYou!
Lovely to have one’s companion flowing from the ink. I am reminded here of Harold and the Purple Crayon! (Of course yours is different!) But a lovely idea. k.
Wonderful flow here, Gretchen!!! “Electric blue” evokes so very much.
All I could think of was a blue violin π
Yeah, electric blue… so vibrant and energetic… cool poem.
Blue music, blue words, blue me π
Lovely…electric blue, vibrant and awesome!
I like the color electric blue ~ Funny but I wrote about these words in my other blog the other day ~ Keep on writing ~
This is wonderful, spinning down into that fabulous color. Shine on!
What a gift.
Thank-you π
I love how this flows so smoothly and beautifully!
Thank-you, I loved the whole theme of it. I just kept drawing parallels to music and writing and Autism and this idea of an electric blue electric violin and what that would look and sound like if I knew how kept going through my head. Not to mention her piece Elements and her music video is inspiration for sure. It’s a pretty intense video and it made me think of what my passion is at my very core. Thank-you for reading my poem π
beautiful piece. Really so much said here. I love the way you produced so much with so little here. Outstanding poem. Thanks
Wow, thank-you so much!
Amused muse…made me smile…and i just find electric blue a cool color…one you can not only see but feel
Ah! I hoped it would! That line actually made me think of you. Whenever we do a prompt I usually read yours aloud to my other half. Although she isn’t the biggest fan of poetry she seems to like hearing it. Your style is so awesome. I always look for your poems!
What a great idea…the muse companion flowing from the pen. I love the execution, too…compact, direct. Nothing extra, not a word wasted.
Gorgeous! Strong, clean, gentle and inspiring
/This is lovely, and so damn genuine. I find my pen (or keyboard) to the be only friend at times…that means something.
Lady Nyo
So true. The best kind of friend!
This poem radiates confidence in a hue of electric blue π Nice write.
Thank you! π
I agree with the others, this is just lovely. I am a lover of blue myself. It is very nice to meet you, Gretchen.
Pamela
Nice to meet you too π
I am so glad your muse is amused, Gretchen.
Ponticello, I like that. In classical guitar it means to have your right hand fingers play closer to the bridge, for a unique sound.
I know moms of autistic children, so to hear from the heart of one who lives with the heaviness of autism will be a new experience for me.
Thank-you for reading it. π
“My companion Flows from my Fountain pen”…I love this opening. Very nicely done π
Well hello. I’m new here. Glad I stopped by though. Nice to meet you!
I really like this. It made me want to go outside to look for some blue skies. With this cold weather, I dread stepping outside and getting all, well, cold! Haha! But I do miss seeing white puffy clouds strolling across an eclectic blue sky! π

Gretchen, so glad we are in touch! Your “amused muse” is a nice concept. Blue and purple are my fave colors, so this had me practically giddy! “Sul ponticello” I had to look up, but it was worth it, and I’m glad you are friends with your ink, and I am with my graphite! Peace, Amy
Isn’t “Sul Ponticello” such a great term? I love mixing stuff like that into my work. It adds depth π
