With steady strokes
Sweeping soft sunlight
Risen above –
a pencil thin –
Charcoal horizon
Ever. So. Slowly – I open
Those emerald eyes
To see – an old sun – set
Like a bittersweet dream
Closing them tight again
I choose to believe
In what lies ahead – –
And embrace peace.

Note to reader: It’s amazing where we find inspiration. This one came from me simply rubbing my eye with my thumb and staring at the gold glitter eye shadow and eye liner that smudged off.
really beautiful-imagery and inspiration.
Thank-you Jane!
delicious.
like unwrapping a bon-bon.
Can feel the gold wrapper and smell the truffle.
Wonderful and hopeful at the end. Leaves me feeling warm inside.
Wonderful Write Gretchen! I too believe in what lies ahead, embracing peace. (Love that ending! =) )
nice…i like that charcoal horizon…i like too that behind those lids you see not the old sun, but a hope for what is yet to come…and in that there is always hope…smiles….
Lovely, pencil thin charcoal horizon, how delicate…this reminded me of getting lost in an old painting…and there it is a smudge of eyeliner, still wonderful descriptions. 🙂

Loved your inspiration. Always a good thing to believe the future will be good, I think. The we can help make it so. Peace to you.

A Poem of hope!
I love the simplicity of the lines…and most of all the ending, embracing peace ~
Gretch, a superb job. Such a melody and encouraging piece. An old sun. I’ve never written those words. Very kool. Exciting to read such fresh verse. I like and I’m inspired.
Absolute delight inspired by the simplest things in life. How lucky you are, Gretchen to have this insight.
I really like the way this sounds read aloud. Great message as well.
….believing on things that are yet to exist is same as giving trust without weighing too much… def an absolute delight to read such a positive outlook in life Gretchen… smiles…

A soft roll to this…sunbathed hope for sure.
Ok the awesomest thing about this (and there are several awesome things) is: “Old sun.” You nailed it. So evocative.
Thank-you Andrea, it is the little things than can inspire the big things at times in our world 🙂
